Tom Ryerson's Carnal Wreckage

Poems and Lyrics of love, life and self.

It is my belief that every writer of lyrics longs to put his art into poetry, and vice versa, the poet dreams of writing a piece comprised of verses, bridges and choruses. I wrote my first poem, 'October,' in 1987. When the Slacker Anthem single came out in May 1995, I made mention in the liner notes that I had planned to publish a book called 'Beds of Prose,' not actually knowing that prose was long form writing, and not poetry as I'd guessed. I included a bonus poem with Slacker Anthem, 'Journey to Infinity,' which was included in the book that was eventually published in June 2010,  fifteen years later.

The book was published under the title of 'Carnal Wreckage: Poems and lyrics of love, life and self,' and was an extensive collection of my writing from 1982 to 2010. Some of the works included have been recorded, and I will make note of which. The book hasn't sold as many copies as something like 'Castle Lake,' but I have been pleasantly surprised over-all, and at book shows people always find a favorite piece or two. The book also earned me my very first review, which was in January 2013 in Scene Magazine from London. Here is the review in it's entirety.
